Every episode of JTBC drama “My Liberation Notes” has been breaking its own record in ratings. It has been one of the most talked-about drama for the first two consecutive weeks of May. Fans have been lauding the show for its unconventional premise, unique characters, and talented cast. If you too love the cast and wish to watch more of them then here are 10 drama recommendations that feature your favorite cast member.

Son Seok Koo

The most interesting character on the show is Mr. Gu played by Son Seok Koo. Mr. Gu was initially shrouded in mystery as no one knew his real name or where he came from. But one thing was clear that he was not a village bumpkin but someone belonging to a rich family.

This immensely talented actor needs no words to convey Mr. Gu’s feelings as the pain in his eyes is enough to move your heart. Seok Koo infuses pathos into the character that makes him seem vulnerable but his teflon demeanor does not allow you to pity him. Son Seok Ko may be the oldest of the main cast but he debuted only a few years ago. So, his filmography contains only a few dramas and films.

1. D.P.

Deserter’s Pursuit aka D.P. is a military drama in which two military officers are entrusted with the job of finding and bringing back military training officers who have gone AWOL. Son Seok Koo plays the role of Officer Im Ju Sup which is not the main role but he does a good job at leaving a lasting impression.

2. Designated Survivor: 60 Days

This is an action drama adapted from an American show. Son Seok Koo plays the role of Cha Young Jin who is a Senior Administrator at the Presidential Office. The show deals with a case of bombing and the subsequent police inquiry over it. It’s a show of revelations that will keep you engaged throughout its run.

3. Matrimonial Chaos

If you like both Mr. Gu and Ki Jung then you must check out this drama as they play a couple in this show. Son Seok Gu plays the role of Lee Jang Hyun who blatantly cheats on his wife. Theirs is a tumultuous relationship and once you see Son Seok Gu in this role you might not look at him the same way you did before. I personally loved him in this show. He looks so charming with a heart-warming smile almost always on his face.

Kim Ji Won

The painfully introverted Yeom Mi Jeong played by Kim Ji Won is the youngest daughter in the Yeom family. She feels a void in her heart that she wishes to fill with the devotion of Mr. Gu. She tells him to revere her so she can feel whole and complete.

Mi Jeong speaks only when spoken to and actress Kim Ji Won does a great job of maintaining a poker face most of the time. Surprisingly, even her poker face speaks a lot about what Mi Jeong feels. Her defeated walk and downcast eyes effectively tell you about Mi Jeong’s loneliness. Kim Ji Won has an impressive portfolio of dramas. Here are some of her best performances.

1. The Heirs

In a show with an ensemble cast, Kim Ji Won plays the role of Racheal who is the male lead, Kim Tan’s fiancé. Kim Tan is in love with a girl named Cha Eun Sang, which makes Racheal jealous. Racheal then spares no chance of insulting Eun Sang. Amid a long list of characters, Kim Ji Won successfully made her presence felt as the snooty Racheal.

2. Descendants of the Sun

Kim Ji Won plays Yoon Myung Ju who is a military officer in love with another officer a rank lower than hers. The show focuses on the love story of the lead couple. However, Kim Ji Won once again stood out because of her good acting and strong personality.

3. Lovestruck in the City

The free-spirited girl Lee Eun Oh meets the handsome Park Jae Won on a summer vacation and they have a whirlwind romance. Jae Won returns home from the vacation hoping to meet Eun Oh again but she never comes to see him. Kim Ji Won’s angsty romance with Ji Chang Wook will bring tears to your eyes. Really.

3. Lee El

Lee El plays Yeom Ki Jung, the eldest daughter in the Yeom family, who is in her late thirties and yearns for love and romance. Her high expectations of a spouse and rigid conditions ruined her chance of finding love. Regretting her attitude, Ki Jung is now open to loving anyone who loves her back.

It must be a real task for the makeup department to make Lee El look unkempt and unattractive because she is gorgeous for real. Her quivering lips when nervous and schlep home are the trademarks of Ki Jung. Lee El has mostly played supporting but memorable characters in her shows.

1. Matrimonial Chaos

A slow drama, but Lee El looks and acts amazing in her short role. She plays Jin Yoo Yeong, a fashion designer who runs her own boutique and is in a complicated relationship with her partner (played by Son Seo Koo). I love her in this show especially when you see her restrained acting. Also, she looks too good with Son Seok Koo. They share amazing chemistry.

4. Lee Min Ki

The middle child of the three siblings Yeom Chang Hee, played by Lee Min Ki, dreams of living in Seoul and driving his favorite car. But sadly, nothing seems to work for him as life keeps throwing new challenges at him and he tackles it all with a wry sense of humor.

Actor Lee Min Ki has the quality to make you relate to his dilemma even when he doesn’t fully express it. His character Chang Hee often fails in love and even if he doesn’t tell you the reason you still know what makes Chang Hee the way he is.

1. Because This Is My First Life

In this show, Lee Min Ki is a finicky landlord, Nam Se Hee who needs a tenant to be able to pay off the mortgage on his house. He gets into a contract marriage with a girl so she can pay him rent while also sharing a house that she would like to live in. It is a super sweet show and Nam Se Hee’s personality is the complete opposite of Chang Hee.

2. The Beauty Inside

Lee Min Ki plays Seo Do Jae who suffers from a medical condition that impacts his ability to recognize people’s faces. It is a nice romantic drama and Lee Min Ki is prickly yet adorable in this one too. He shares great chemistry with his female lead Seo Hyun Jin and has some heart-melting romantic scenes with her.

5. Lee Ki Woo

Ki Jung’s love interest is the unassuming and reserved single father, Jo Tae Hoon played by Lee Ki Woo. Tae Hoon is committed to his daughter and is completely focused on working hard to provide her with everything she wants in life.

Lee Ki Woo’s handsome appearance makes him an irresistible Tae Hoon. He does a fine job of restraining his emotions and maintaining a woeful look most of the time. He looks so vulnerable to the feisty Ki Jung that her obsession with him is clearly understood. If you like this tall actor then you might want to watch his other show too.

1. Rain Or Shine

This show deals with some serious issues such as PTSD and survivor’s guilt. Lee Ki Woo plays Seo Joo Won who is an architect and falls in love with his employee Moon Soo. He’s a good guy who is always there for Moon Soo. As always, Lee Ki Woo looks extremely handsome playing the second-lead and the sweet older boss.

These were some of the most noteworthy dramas of the cast of “My Liberation Notes”. So, now you don’t have to miss them too much as you can watch them in their other dramas.
