Oto proposes to Tenma which he happily accepts. They leave together unaware that a heart-broken Haruto has witnessed the proposal and is in tears. Megumi tries to console Haruto but he disses her and leaves. (Oh my dear Megumi, stop running after him. You can do so much better.)
Ota introduces Tenma as her boyfriend/fiancée to Konno who cannot help wondering if Tenma has been downgraded from fiancée to boyfriend. She later asks Ota if she really has no feelings for Haruto and she firmly states that she does not feel anything for him.
Tenma updates his mother about his and Ota’s relationship and tells her that it was because of her ‘concern’ and the photos she sent that helped them move on and now they do not have to meet just on the 4th Sunday of the month but whenever they want to.
On hearing glasses shatter and commotion, Haruto heads to the kitchen to be surprised to find Megumi trying to make something despite Kobayashi’s protests. She tells him that she wants to cook a special fish to cheer him up. After the dish is ready, he looks at it with disgust and asks Kobayashi to try it first and he reluctantly gives it a try. As expected the dish is bad and Kobayashi has to be escorted to the washroom to throw up.
Megumi apologises for the blunder and assures to cook better next time. She asks Haruto what he would like to have and reminiscing his dinner with Ota he asks for stir vegetables. Missing Ota, he decides to give Megumi’s dish a try and ends up wanting to throw up but gulps it down before thanking her for her efforts at preparing the dish for him.
Haruto is in the C5 lounge when some students call out to him and tell him how much they look up to him for having his girlfriend attend their school. Haruto then runs down to see Megumi in Ota’s class.
Airi questions Kaito’s decision to invite Megumi to their school and he shows them the latest stats of their schools rise in applications after the news of Megumi’s enrolment was posted on SNS (a social media site similar to Facebook). Furious, Airi urges Haruto to do something before Ota misunderstands it and Haruto scoffs that Ota has nothing to do in this as she is already dating Tenma. As he leaves the lounge, Kaito once again tells him to date Megumi and Haruto turns away without a word.
Megumi tells Ota of how she and Haruto saw her with her boyfriend Tenma last night and Ota is shocked to know that Haruto was there when she proposed to Tenma. Megumi then asks her if she is really OK with her dating Haruto because she now has a boyfriend anyway and Ota says that she has nothing to do with Haruto anyway.
Haruto gets into a fight with some boys and returns home with a bruise on his face. His father rebukes him for not acting like a Kaguragi and falling for a girl much below their standards. He tells him that if being perfect is his goal then he is at 5 points. But getting involved with Ota gets him minus 10 points. He says that he understands that Ota is a good girl and Haruto falling for her is very natural. Haruto is stunned to know that his father met with Ota and he clarifies that he just visited her once. He tells him to get his shit together and stop running after Ota. Haruto however, muses that falling for Ota does not give him minus 10 points but instead takes his score to a perfect 100.
When his father leaves he sees Megumi waiting outside Haruto’s room. His eyes show a glint of sparkle when Kobayashi tells him that Megumi is the daughter of Mr Nishidome who owns a chain of hotels and resorts.
Haruto is displeased looking at Megumi. He looks really low and she asks him if he had a fight with his father. He gripes that this is how he is totally opposite to the anime character she is obsessed with. He grouches that he cannot face the girl he likes, cannot speak up to his father and is basically a weak person. He tells her she can leave him if she doesn’t like someone like him. Much to his surprise, she plunges on his bed and says that she will never leave him and is willing to share half of his pain. She is almost in tears but Haruto is unmoved.
He leaves the bed looking for something to eat and she excitedly offers him the tiffin she made for him to eat. She coaxes him to eat a dish which he almost pukes saying it tastes like medicine. She says next time she will make him a sweet dish and asks him to accompany her on a holiday instead of spending it alone.
Still angry over Ota’s decision of dating Tenma over Haruto, Airi asks her the reason behind her choice. Ota tells her that her decision has made her mother happy and more importantly she feels at peace choosing Tenma who is so nice to her.
Taking Konno and her mother’s suggestion Ota asks Tenma out for a trip to the amusement park which he readily agrees for. But the very first ride they have together makes Ota sick. Tenma leaves her to rest on a bench to bring some water for her when she sees Haruto rise from a nearby bench looking equally sick after riding the rollercoaster.
He looks surprised to see Ota and so does Megumi who is accompanying Haruto. Seeing Tenma, Megumi suggests they have a double date which Tenma agrees to. Seeing Tenma so confident even with Haruto around, makes him feels intimidated. He eventually agrees to the double date after Megumi’s insists he show his rival he is not afraid of him.
Megumi asks Ota if she has been on a double date before. Ota remembers her double date with Konno and her boyfriend where she had gone with Haruto. But in front of Tenma she says this is her first double date which surprises Haruto who says he has been on a double date before. He then reminds Ota of how they had been on a double date before and how they first went to the batting centre and then the restaurant but she starts screaming to keep Tenma from hearing Haruto. Haruto says she should not be afraid of being honest in front of Tenma. He then looks at Tenma and thinks of how annoying he looks. (Hahahaha Haruto is so insecure and jealous that he looks cute being like that.)
Haruto then invites Tenma to join him at the Teacups ride and Tenma wonders why he would like to ride it with him. Haruto gloats imagining himself sitting unaffected in the cups while Tenma cries feeling dizzy thereby proving his manliness to Ota who realises that Haruto is stronger than Tenma. He then imagines dancing with Ota in his arms as she mocks the weak Tenma. (Hahahahaha… Haruto’s imagination is as stupid as him.)
When the ride starts, Haruto spins the gearbox as fast as possible to make Tenma dizzy but when the two boys step out of the cup, it is Haruto who is unable to stand on his feet and Tenma has to help him walk out.
Tenma leaves to get some food, but Ota stops him saying she made him a bento box. She says she has made enough for all of them to share it. Tenma takes a bite and praises Ota’s amazing cooking skills and so does Megumi. Megumi urges Haruto have some especially after he told her that Ota’s stir-fried vegetables is better than Michelins three-star hotel food. However, Haruto looks at the bento box and says that it is not like what Ota makes and then leaves to visit the loo. He then sits on a bench and muses of how much he hates to see Tenma and Ota together. His eyes then fall upon an advertisement of a scary house ride in the amusement park. He takes Tenma with him to the freaky house and as expected, it is Haruto ends up screaming and jumping as he looks completely terrified in the house.
Tenma finds it hard to believe that Haruto actually feels scared of such silly stuff and Haruto quips that Ota will soon see how strong he is while Tenma is the weaker man. Tenma sighs and then asks Haruto to talk to him later.
Megumi brings Ota and an ice-cream cone apologizing for ruining her date with Tenma. She also apologises for Haruto’s childish behaviour at always trying to beat Tenma. She goes on to tells her how Haruto has been stressed lately as his life at home and school seem to be messed up. She tells her how big a taskmaster Haruto’s father is and that he even went to meet Ota asking for some route. Ota then remembers the man who asked her for the route to a hospital and wonders why his father came to visit her.
Inside the creepy house, Tenma confronts Haruto on his feelings for Ota and Haruto asks him what will he do if he admits to it and Tenma says that he does not care about his feelings as he loves Ota and will not give up on her.
Haruto and Ota are both lost in their thoughts and end up together in a capsule on a Ferris wheel. Alone with Megumi, Tenma asks her if she is Haruto’s girlfriend and she blushes as she answers that she is not yet but is trying her best to be so.
In the Ferris wheel, Ota tells Haruto what Megumi said about his father. She expresses her displeasure at him having Megumi tagging along and he retorts that it is she who is tagging along. They continue to bicker till he guesses that she knew all along what he feels for her and still remained so unmoved by it. Ota is shocked at his interpretation. He then grabs her by her shoulders and tells her that the one he likes is… but at that very moment, the door to their capsule opens and they reach the ground.
Freeing herself from Haruto’s grip, Ota runs towards Tenma who tells her that he had a hearty chat with Megumi. In retrospect, Ota thinks of how warm it felt when Haruto held her. As they step out of the exit, they see a man bump into a lady who accidentally pushes her pram, with her baby in it, down the stairs. Tenma and Haruto both run towards the pram but Haruto pushes Tenma out of the way and leaps in front of the pram to keep it from crashing to the floor.
Ota and Megumi rush to Haruto but Megumi beats Ota to it and jumps on Haruto. She wails at how she thought he was going to die. Seeing the two in an embrace Tenma holds Ota’s hand and suggests they leave Haruto and Megumi alone. Megumi then asks Haruto out and says that he need not answer her and that she only wants to be by his side.
At the restaurant, Ota thinks of how she had been thinking about Haruto the whole day. Her reverie is broken by Tenma who asks her what she would like to eat. They are then joined by Tenma’s classmates of which a girl looks clearly disappointed on learning that Tenma already has a girlfriend. The students then leave and Ota notices how the girl started crying while another girl consoled her. Ota tells Tenma about it and Tenma justifies that she must have been shocked to see him there. She then asks him to talk to her because she looks devastated and he asks if she would like him to console a girl who likes him.
He asks her if she is fine to see him by her side. He questions her if she feels nothing about it. Angry, he says she has had someone else on her mind throughout the day and didn’t even notice that he felt hurt about it. She is shocked to see Tenma angry for the first time. He apologises for losing his temper and she takes the blame on herself for being the reason for it. She tells him that she will make things clear and asks him for some time before running out of the restaurant.
When Haruto enters his room he is surprised to find Ota waiting for him. Without wasting any time she asks him if he likes her and he confesses that he does. In a very emotional confession, he says that she is always on his mind and he cannot stop thinking about her. He says no matter what he does he wishes she is with him and whenever she is in any trouble he wonders what he can do to help her and how he can get her to like him. She thanks him for sharing his feelings with her and for loving her.
She then hands him his lucky charm and apologises for causing him so much pain. She then declares that she is dating Tenma and that by returning his gift she wants to ensure that no one feels hurt because of her. As she runs away from him, Haruto asks her if this is how it will end between them and with a lot of efforts at hiding her tears she replies that they never really had anything between them. She stomps out of his house and he breaks down after her.
Somewhere in the middle of the market, Ota wonders at how all the memories she had with Haruto and the good time she spent with him will now vanish amounting to nothing. She then calls Tenma to meet her.
When he arrives, she tells him that she has made things clear that she is dating Tenma and will never have him upset again. He pulls her in into a tight hug saying that she need not say anything more as he understands what she is trying to say. Pulling her away he looks at her (with the typical dreamy Taishi eyes) before kissing her softly. He then asks her if she is willing to transfer to Momonozono and she looks back at him in surprise. (Itne fantastic ladke ke liye main toh duniya chod du school kya cheez hai….hehehehehe)

This dorama has been taking all those turns I never expected it to take. I repeat, this dorama feels a lot like HYD with similar characters but is still so starkly different from it. Looks like the writer must have really brainstormed hard on how HYD would have been ten years later and she seems to be on the right track till now. The writer has taken key elements from the main story and then twisted it to appeal to the current generation. I am loving how same yet different this dorama is from HYD.
The best part about today’s episode is Ota’s character. She knows she feels for Haruto but still makes it clear to him that they can never be together as she likes Tenma and is loyal to the one who never gave up on her despite all that happened with her. I appreciate the fact that she has not kept both the boys hanging for her choice like most drama heroines do. For now, she has made her choice and seems to be happy with Tenma. And why not, the way Tenma refused to console the girl who likes him shows how focused he is on his relationship with Ota and does not want to jeopardize it in any way. He sees the clear connection between Ota and Haruto but still does not feel threatened as he has faith in himself and his love for Ota. Too bad I doubted his intentions and character in the initial episodes of this dorama but now I can see his earnest feelings for Ota and I cannot stop gushing over my second-lead.
Rooting for Tenma means ditching the stupid and silly, Haruto. I like Haruto too. He is so much better than Domyuji. I loved how he expressed his feeling for Ota when she ambushed him. I could see the anguish, the longing, the sincerity, the helplessness in his eyes and was moved by it. I feel so bad for him. I don’t want to see him low like this. I know things will get better for him in the coming episodes so he need not worry as he is the main lead. The one I’m worried about is Tenma who might have a heartbreak. I hope he turns out to be a villain so I feel a little less bad for him or else I will never forgive Ota for being so ruthless with such an amazing guy.
