“If You Wish Upon Me” follows the life of Yoon Gyeo Rye who grew up in an orphanage and even spent some time in the juvenile detention center. Having no wish to live, he volunteers at a hospice and works along with team leader, Kang Tae Sik, and nurse, Seo Yeon Joo.

In the trailer, you can see him sitting despondently as nurse Seo Yeon Joo looks over him with the voiceover playing “Have you ever been happy in your life at least once?” Next is a shot of his chiseled and tattoed abdomen and arms.

A shot of his face, heavily bruised, wondering “How did I end up like this?” He is heard screaming “I should also get a chance to live a normal life like everyone else,” as he keeps fighting off someone. Lastly, with tears in his eyes, he cries, “That should be okay, right?”

From the trailer, you can see how Ji Chang Wook has transformed himself into Gyeo Rye. He has clearly lost some weight and has his arms covered in tattoos to look like a former delinquent.

Ji Chang Wook aces emotional scenes and this drama looks like it’s got plenty of it. The trailer brings a sense of gloom and despondence and it will be interesting to see how Gyeo Rye rises above it.

Here are the official drama posters.
