I am a professional hoarder. I collect beauty products like as if my survival depends upon it. Well, actually it does in a way. 😉 Of all the products I hoard, lip balm is something I collect the most. Lip balms often come in tiny tubes or pots because of which I always misplace them. Since my lips are perpetually chapped I am always in need of a chapstick. Hence, my huge collection of lip balms. However, I do not buy just any lip balm as I have suffered the consequences of impulsive buying twice. Once, I bought a lip balm only because it had a ‘Buy One, Get One’ free offer on it. I applied it at night and I was horrified to see my lips swollen the next morning. I would have been happy had my lips looked like that of Angelina Jolie’s but sadly, my lips looked like I had been punched in the mouth. In another instance, I used a lip balm before applying my lipstick and left home for work. By the time I reached my office, my lips had turned blood red as I had grazed them hard with my teeth because they itched like crazy. I wiped off the lipstick and saw that my lips had turned black. People in my office thought I was ill, seeing my black lips. I had used the lipstick several times before so I knew it wasn’t the lipstick that caused the allergy. After these two incidents, I exercise caution before buying a lip balm. Since I prefer herbal and natural products over anything else, I purchased Biotique’s Bio Almond Overnight Therapy Lip Balm and here is my experience using it.
Name: Biotique Bio Almond Overnight Therapy Lip Balm
Price: ₹149/- for 5 gm
What does it claim?
The lip balm deeply nourishes and fortifies the lips.
How to use?
Twist up the balm and gently rub it over your lips.
Does it fulfil its claim?
The lip balm comes in a twist up white plastic tube.
The packaging states that the product is an ‘overnight therapy’ lip balm. So, I was under the impression that you have to apply the balm only at night and your lips will be soft and smooth in the morning. I thought it works like a night cream. However, that was not the case. Like any other lip balm, you can apply this one too whenever your lips feel dry and it will effectively smoothen chapped lips. I do not know why the lip balm is marketed as an ‘overnight therapy’ balm as it works like as a regular lip balm.
The balm has a mild fragrance which felt almost therapeutic to me. Considering the price, the quantity of the product is less compared to a lot of other brands in the market. However, I am not complaining as I personally loved the product. Though it may not work like a night cream, it still is long lasting. It glides on smoothly over the lips and moisturises dry and chapped lips. Also, the lip balm is not tinted so you can use it before applying lipstick. I always use it before applying a matte lipstick.
For best results, exfoliate your lips with a lip scrub before applying the lip balm.
